Description
Woven rug made using traditional Armenian weaving techniques by the Ouzounians, a family who converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, They made the rug wove for their home in Syria to commemorate the Pioneer Centennial. Rug features depiction of Brigham Young in the middle. Underneath is written "P. Brigham Young" in black against a tan background. The border around Brigham Young has alternating images of beehives and sego lilies against a black background. Above Brigham Young in capitals is "The Prophet of the Lord the Great Pioneer and Colonizer. 1847 Centennial Year 1947" in black yarn against tan background. The short sides of the rug are fringed in white. have white strings. The edge along the bottom has "Ruben. Mary. Ouzounian." in black thread.
