Introduction

Utah's Uintah Basin is bustling with tradition, from performances and celebration to traditional arts and crafts. In 2017 and 2018, folklorist Thomas Grant Richardson conducted fieldwork and surveying folklife practices in the Uintah Basin. What he found are resilient communities with a strong sense of identity and place and artists dedicated to keeping traditional art forms and practices centered in their lives.
