Biographical Text

Carl "Boomer" Stout began his river guiding career in 1984 and has been a fly fishing guide in Colorado, Alaska, and Utah. In 1990, he began work for Denny Breer of Trout Creek Flies on the Green River, where he has remained ever since.

As a fly fishing guide, Boomer’s knowledge spans far beyond fishing and river information. In addition to the navigational and technical aspects of river guiding, Boomer holds deep ecological knowledge, environmental awareness, and people skills which allow him to teach deeper skills and new understandings to clients in addition to catching fish.

Boomer has also been tying flies since 1982, specializing in ties for trout, pike, and bass fishing. He is well known for his Classic Full Dress Atlantic Salmon flies, which are displayed as “art” flies rather than used for fishing.
