Biographical Text
The Young Electric Sign Company was created in 1920 by Thomas Young Sr. A decade earlier he had left his home in Sunderland, England and emigrated to Ogden, Utah with his family. He first started work creating wall lettering and gold-leaf window signs at the Electric Sign Company and Redfield-King Sign Company in Ogden. As a master signwriter, Thomas created the Young Electric Sign Company, which initially specialized in coffin plates, gold leaf window lettering, painted advertisements, and lighted signs. As the science of lighting and sign-making became more advanced, so did Tom's signs. In 1969, Thomas Sr. turned the company over to his son Thomas Young Jr., who has continued the tradition of innovation in the area of sign making.
