Dublin Core
Title
Nauvoo Legion Uniform Button Mold
Description
Black metal cone-shaped button mold. Design or device depicts a beehive in center framed by words "Life Guards" and "N . L."
This button die, or button mold, is suspected to be one of the original designs for Nauvoo Legion uniform buttons. It has a verbal history of being originally discovered in a former button making factory in Waterbury, Connecticut. It was donated along with several others to the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission by Waterbury Companies, Inc. Given the button molds' clear connection to Utah, the Historical Commission of Pennsylvania generously gifted multiple button molds to the Historical Society of Utah in 1982.
